A Gentle Goodbye at Home ...

Saying goodbye to a much-loved pet is one of the hardest decisions any family will ever face. For many, having their pet put to sleep at home offers a more peaceful and comforting experience — allowing them to remain in familiar surroundings, close to the people they love most. Home euthanasia gives families the opportunity to say goodbye in a calm, unhurried way, without the stress of a clinical environment.

At Cherished Companion, we can help arrange pet euthanasia at home through our trusted team of experienced local vets. We work closely with compassionate professionals who understand how important this moment is, ensuring your pet is cared for with dignity, gentleness and respect. From your first call, we can guide you through the process and coordinate everything on your behalf, giving you one less thing to worry about.

We’re here to support you every step of the way — from arranging the home visit to providing aftercare and individual cremation, if and when the time comes. Whether you are planning ahead or need support urgently, our aim is to make this difficult time feel a little more gentle, personal and supported.

We understand that knowing when the time is right can feel overwhelming. Our trusted home visiting vets are available not only to carry out euthanasia, but also to provide a gentle quality of life assessment if you are unsure — offering guidance, reassurance, and exploring whether any other options may be appropriate. We can also provide a simple quality of life tracker on request to help you monitor your pet’s comfort over time. A home assessment visit is £76, and if it is decided that it is time to say goodbye, you will simply be charged for the euthanasia, with no additional assessment fee.

Aftercare and Cremation

After your pet has passed, we can take care of their cremation with the same compassion and respect that guide everything we do. Every animal entrusted to us is treated with the utmost care.

Your pet’s ashes will be returned to you quickly; either delivered to your home or collected from our location. We offer a range of memorial options, from simple scatter boxes to keepsakes and urns that can be shared with family or kept close.

Our goal is to help you honour your pet’s memory in a way that feels personal and meaningful, while giving you the reassurance that they are being cared for gently every step of the way.
